The Smith Barn
These are photos of the barn my great grandfather James Smith built in 1914 on his farm overlooking the Little Blue River just north of Nelson NE. On a trip back to Nebraska last year I asked my father of all of the old tools he had in the basement which had the most sentimental value to him. He went down and pulled out an old beaten up square. He told me it was his grandfather Smith's and he had used to to build a barn on his farm and he thought it was still standing. Using Google satellite views, I found the barn was still standing ( map here). So on my trip to Nebraska in November we took a trip down to Nelson to photograph the barn. There is a detail shot of the square that was used to build the barn in the set of images. All of the images were shot with a Fuji X-E1.
